Career Resources
Community resources can be found here.
Fantastic list of job search resources, geared towards those looking for mission-driven jobs, from Rosemari Ochoa (I promise, I would share even if she didn’t give me a shout out!)
Topgrading is a popular form of interviewing that many tech companies use - I’ve used it at previous employers, our sales team incorporates this kind of interview, and even when employers don’t use this rigid structure, many pull from these practices. This overview could be worth a read for those looking to tighten up their interviewing skills.
Reminder that you can make anything a career. 🙂

In the News
Well we all know the big news…the government shutdown. What might it mean for us as every day Americans, or for job creation?
Those who work for the federal government may be furloughed, or for essential employees, work without pay (though they will receive backpay once the government is funded)
For contractors, this can be permanent job loss since there’s no structure for backpay.
Passport processing will be slow, or may halt altogether - this will create a backlog so if you need passport services in the next few months, move on that now!
Air travel may be disrupted due to staffing shortages (yay for me who has 2 trips planned this month😭)
Extended shutdowns could impact those dependent on SNAP or WIC.
Customer service for social security and medicare recipients will be less available.
The SBA will not be processing loans which can delay funding (and job creation)
FHA and VA mortgage approvals will slow down which can delay approvals and closings, and have major trickle down effects, as well as a backlog once things get moving again.
Communities dependent on spending by military basis or tourists to national parks may be impacted which could lead to lack of income or loss of jobs.
Businesses waiting on payments from the government or on government contracts could be impacted which will affect their employees, ability to pay bills, etc.
And that BLS jobs report that should be coming out on Friday probably won’t…
