It's been a while! Hi!
Let's talk about jokes in the workplace and the environmental impact of AI!
Better prompts. Better AI output.
AI gets smarter when your input is complete. Wispr Flow helps you think out loud and capture full context by voice, then turns that speech into a clean, structured prompt you can paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or any assistant. No more chopping up thoughts into typed paragraphs. Preserve constraints, examples, edge cases, and tone by speaking them once. The result is faster iteration, more precise outputs, and less time re-prompting. Try Wispr Flow for AI or see a 30-second demo.

Well y’all, 2026 has so busy that I’ve had to prioritize a lot, and that’s meant this newsletter has fallen to the wayside a bit!
Our hiring has been booming at Zapier (so make sure to check out our job board - referral link here), and I’m adding two more recruiters to my team. But in the interim, that’s meant my entire team has been stretched. Hopefully in the long run, this is a good thing and reflects shifts in the job market?
Speaking of the job market, we hit a new milestone recently - the job market now favors those without college degrees over those with them for the first time in 50 years. I talked more about this in this video and you can see the related article here.
Resource Round-Up
My former colleague is hiring for his team at Camunda! It’s a great company, 100% remote, and everyone I know there loves it! If you work in benefits, check this out!
And spotted a great recruiter role as well!
ICE jokes at work?!
Yesterday, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff joked about ICE being at an employee event and it didn’t exactly go over well.
The first I heard about this was a brave Salesforce Employee calling out what happened and noting he was OK losing his job over saying this wasn’t OK.
Then I did a search and found out the Head of Slack (which is owned by Salesforce) denounced the comments. And I was really glad to see that as it probably creates a much safer space for others to speak up who may not otherwise feel safe.
So anyway, this is just a reminder that if you’re in a position of leadership, being vocal and modeling your values will have a huge impact and create safe spaces for others to voice their concerns as well.
🙋Answering Your Questions🙋
Each week, I’ll answer one (or more!) of your questions in this section. You can submit your questions here.
I'm interested in using AI more in my work, but I'm also worried about the environmental impacts. How do you reconcile that?
You know, this is a tricky one, but I think two things can be true
AI absolutely has environmental costs. Data centers use massive amounts of energy, so that is a legitimate concern.
At the same time, we also need to consider the net impact. If AI reduces unnecessary travel, speeds up decision-making, eliminates redundant work, and improves energy efficiency in other industries, the total footprint could be lower than the system it replaces over time…realistically, I don't think we're there yet.
I also think it's important to recognize that the things we would be doing instead of using AI also have an environmental impact. email, streaming, cloud storage - these are all things that also consume energy, so AI isn't particularly unique from any of the other technologies that we use without giving it a second thought.
So I guess for me, the things I would suggest are:
Using AI intentionally, not frivolously...there's no reason to generate random pictures of yourself just for fun on a daily basis, or use AI when you could easily Google the answer.
Support or request transparency around energy sourcing and give your support to AI products that are operating more ethically.
Advocate for regulation and renewable-powered infrastructure for AI.
Be honest about the trade-offs instead of pretending they don't exist, and AI is that magical bullet with no consequences
