Thinking about hiring globally? Start with an EOR.

The best person for your next role might not live near your office—or even in the same country.

More companies are realizing they don't need to open entities everywhere just to access global talent. Instead, they're using EOR to hire internationally faster, stay compliant, and avoid building local infrastructure before they're ready.

Oyster's EOR helps companies hire, pay, and support employees in 180+ countries while Oyster handles payroll, compliance, taxes, and local employment requirements.

Things I heard from a bunch of super senior folks about AI

I was on a call with a couple of CEOs and board members on tech companies doing Q&A around AI and I wanted to share some takeaways I jotted down:

  1. You should always have agents working for you at any given point - if you have an idea, get an agent working on it and see what it can do.

  2. Job displacement (this was a big point of discussion!)
    - people have always worried about technology taking their jobs but this hasn’t historically played out
    - the biggest place it’s replacing jobs right now is Tier 1 customer support roles, and customer support is still an area where hiring is on the rise
    - all jobs stem from building stuff and consuming stuff; AI does both of htose and that should be creating jobs in other spaces
    - jobs aren’t about tasks, they’re about the work - AI does tasks but it doesn’t take on the work; work is messy and we still need people to bring the judgement, prioritization, etc.
    - AI makes us busier and there’s more work not less, this is why AI companies are hiring so much

  3. Software companies are pushing back and evolving, we’ll likely move away from the Open AI vs Anthropic as people figure out how to make intelligence more open source and cheaper, platforms that make it more accessible so they apps can work around the big guys, etc.

  4. We’re in a period of rapid change and movement, expect to make mistakes and then learn from them. Consider this a period of reinvention and consider this a rebuilding era vs holding on to the way we’ve always done.

🙋Answering Your Questions🙋

Each week, I’ll answer one (or more!) of your questions in this section. You can submit your questions here.

How would you reply on a job application that asks if and why you’ve been terminated for any previous job (when you have been for performance issues)? This is a job that would be a great fit for their skills, so I’d like for my friend to apply if possible

I would say something like, “I was let go from <company> due to recognizing the role wasn’t the right fit for my skills and strengths. Since then, I’ve <insert something about how you’ve grown, evolved the types of roles you’re targeting, etc.> and I’m confident this position is a much stronger fit for <insert a few specific reasons>.
