Career Resources

  • Find our job board, a referral link to Zapier, and more here.

  • I just launched a Facebook page! One thing I like about Facebook is that it makes interaction a lot easier since you can share resources, images, etc. which is hard to do on tiktok/IG. I’ll probably drop some surprise networking chats or resume reviews there in the next week. Feel free to follow along! I’m currently at 0 followers so let’s see if I can hit 25 this week. 🤣

  • My network is hiring! Tons of engineering openings here, let me know if I can help with an intro!

  • My buddy Josh Czupryk shared this fantastic post with advice for those looking to make transitions in education. Check it out, tons of great resources!

  • If you’re a Zapier customer, you have 5 days left to nominate yourself for a Zappy! Winners get $5k and I know many readers have built awesome solutions on Zapier! See my post here.

  • These scammers are getting more and more sophisticated and sadly, several people fell for offers sent with my name on them. Please be vigilant and don’t ignore the red flags!

In the News

  • Apparently there was a small uptick in private payrolls in July! I doubt it’s much to get excited about but alongside the GDP growth, maybe we’ll see some companies ramp up hiring a bit.

  • I spoke with Business Insider last week about using AI in your job search. Insights from me, and other recruiters here!

  • I saw this horrible situation on a LinkedIn post, and dread knowing more people will be in this boat in the months ahead with what’s happening in heatlhcare, but one great resource popped up - Claimable. They help people get insurance denials overturned. I haven’t used it myself, but if helpful, check it out. (And there’s a happy update here as his last appeal was just approved!)

🙋Answering Your Questions🙋

I know it’s not a good time for a career change, but I’m an assistant principal and dreading the first day of school. Do you have any advice for how to find something new. It doesn’t have to be my dream job, I just do not want to work in a school anymore.

I totally understand! I got burned out on the hours and structure of working in a school as well. I do think it’s a hard time to transition industries so I’d consider:

  1. School districts - APs can be a great match for instructional coaching roles.

  2. Local non-profits, especially those operating in the same community as your school.

  3. Companies that serve schools - this could be edtech platforms, it could be the companies providing uniforms or partnering around staffing certain positions or anyone else working in schools. You have a unique advantage there with roles like sales or customer success since you understand their customer so well!

It’s harder to transition to corporate roles right now, but teachers can do well in areas like learning and development, instructional design, customer support, customer success, sales (especially entry points like BDR/SDR).

Good luck!
